Remember Elon Musks' famous blog post 10 year ago? - Build sports car. Use that money to build an affordable car. Use that money to build an even more affordable car. - Well the 'even more affordable car' Elon Musk promised to gift the world with 10 years ago has finally arrived. Its sleek. Its fast. It Fine.

Tesla unveiled the Model 3 at an event in Los Angeles, California yesterday, where the attendees were able to take a spin up and down the street in a pre-production version of the electric vehicle. At the event, Tesla's CEO said, "Its very important to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport. This is really important for the future of the world."

Though Tesla isnt the first to do this, (General Motors release its own version of an EV, the Chevy Bolt, for the masses a few months back) thanks to the excitement the brand generates, the Model 3 is already receiving a favorable response from the public. For about a week now, some 115,000 (and counting) fans have lined up outside Tesla stores in the US to make a $1000 down payment to purchase the car. You dont see that happen every day!

The Model 3 is a 5 door, 4 seater family sedan that can do 0 to 60 mph in under 6 seconds with a range of 215 miles on a full charge. Its combines the comfort and practicality of an upscale mid-sized car. Every single unit will have supercharging as a standard feature. The Model 3 will have both rear-wheel drive and all wheel drive versions. It also comes with auto-pilot standard and all safety features will be activated automatically. The dash board consists of a 15 inch display in the center (theres nothing in front of the driver). The roof is made entirely of glass, from windshield to trunk (very sexy), and it will have a front and rear boot for storage.

Teslas previous models, the Model S and Model T were high-end cars, easily costing up to $100,00 per unit before tax. Tesla says it plans to sell the Model 3 for $35,000 before tax, and the car is expected to hit the US market end of 2017.

If you are as wowed as we are, you can check out pictures of the M3 (Yes, we don nicknamed it!) on the links below along with videos of the test drive.
