The fans have been waiting with baited breathe to hear this. For years, there've been rumours in the corridors of Hollywood but nobody knew for sure. Finally its been confirmed - There will be an Avartar sequel. In fact there will be four Avatar sequels!!

James Cameron confirmed this at CinemaCon in Las Vegas today. The filmmaker announced that four sequels of his 3D epic are in the works. Cameron explained that while he was planning for three sequels, he found it limiting and decided he would need more installments to tell the whole story. Each of the sequels will be stand-alones, but will together create a saga. The first sequel will hit the cinemas at Christmas in 2018, and the remaining sequels are targeted for release in 2020, 2022 and 2023. The sequels will be released by Fox. He has created a screenwriting supergroup to help develop the world of Avartar - the characters, the creatures, the environment, the new cultures. According to Cameron," Its going to be a true epic saga thats told in this rich and complex world". He also spoke of several other aspects around the expansion of the epic movie - a theme park with Disney in the works, and a deal with Dark Horse Comics for graphic novel spin offs too.

Cameron also used the opportunity to voice his support for exclusive theatrical windows for movie releases, saying "I think it's absolutely essential for movies to be offered exclusively in theaters on their initial release." This is a hot topic this year due to news of Sean Parkers The Screening Room, which would allow audiences to rent first-run movies from their living room. According to Cameron, "There's always been some kind of threat to the thearter-going experience, but we've always answered that threat in the same way. By being great, and showmanship."

As huge Avatar fans, frankly we at The TechTiger can not wait for December 2018! Wepromise to keep you well informed right up until the release dates and beyond.
