Barter App Just Disrupted Game Night!

At The Tech Tiger, we've been really excited to do a deep-dive review of the new Barter App by Flutterwave, just for you! Just so you know what you're getting into, Barter is a payments product created by Flutterwave that allows you do transactions on your mobile! So we decided to install the app on an android phone, Infinix Hot 5, and we downloaded the product from the Google Play Store. Here's the link: Sign-up was as simple as A B C! Here's the link so you can copy our steps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flutterwave.flybarter Setup was is a bit more complex. First thing we did was create a strong PIN. Safety first, people! Then we put in our bank account information. We had to authenticate our email/ number by putting in the OTP. Write it down woh! Cos its a 6 digit thing, so not easy to remember, and your screen might not split for this app. Finally we had to put in and authenticate our BVN. This took us 20 mins woh! Caveat emptor! Barter App can do all the stuff other C2C transaction apps can do. Heres what you can do with Barter App that other apps dont do:
- Pay with QR Code
- Transact with a USSID code *556#
- Get commission on airtime purchases
- Pay road tolls
- Get an online dollar card
- Send/ receive money on whatsApp
- Make dollar transactions
- Make dollar transactions via mPesa
Funding the account takes 2 mins tops! You can fund your Barter account from you bank directly or from you debit card. Barter uses your mobile number as your address, not your actual physical address which for us, is just MINDBLOWINGly sensible! Barter dashs you N50 when you open your account, and N25 for every referral that leads to a new account. We're like meeeh! You'd think a whole Flutterwave would hook a new user up nah! LoL!
Barter App issues you a dollar card literally a tthe click of a button. Ever better! you can fund it with next to nothing. We funded ours with $2. Do we need to tell you how thrilled we were?!
O and before we forget the WhatsApp payments feature is real! Observations: Download took a full 7 minutes, however, we're impressed that both the WhatsApp and call authentication work well on Barter!
You need to check your notifications for payment requests from WhatsApp. We didnt realise our notifications were coming through until 2 days later!
The share button only seems to work with mobile number so its hard to collect on that N25 referral token. We want our money woh!
In summary, we love the Barter App so were giving Barter App the thumbs up!
